Easy, Drag & Drop Website Editor
Weebly's core advantage is their stunningly easy drag & drop website editor. Videos, pictures, maps, and text are added by simply dragging them to your website. You'll be totally surprised at how straightforward it is to build a website with Weebly – no HTML or technical skills required! A Managed, Protected Environment for Your Students With Weebly, you can password protect all your students' websites with one click. Weebly understands that privacy is extremely important to teachers, students, and parents. You have full control over which websites are public, which are private, and which can be edited by the student. It's simple to bulk create new student accounts and oversee your students' activity. Powerful Multimedia Features If you can imagine it, you can do it with Weebly. Add pictures, videos, audio players, documents, maps, and photo galleries easily by dragging and dropping. Use Weebly's unbranded audio and video players so that you and your students do not need to venture out to YouTube or similar services to add high quality audio & video to your sites. Flexible Blogging Features Post class updates, homework assignments, and news for parents using our super slick blogging features. Blogs are also great for students to express their thoughts and receive comments from others. Weebly supports an unlimited number of blogs within your website, with full comment moderation features allowing an open, moderated, or closed conversation. It’s Free It is completely free to create and publish a website with Weebly. Our service has always been, and always will be free. So, how is Weebly supported? Weebly has optional Pro account features for just $39.95 per year (really worth it), and Weebly offers add-on packs of student accounts (10 accounts for $10) if your needs exceed the 40 accounts that are included. That's it! Weebly Education is heavily discounted compared to regular Weebly; should you choose to upgrade. No Advertising Weebly doesn't place advertising on your site, and never will. Some "free" website providers force advertising to be placed on your site, but you don't need to worry about that with Weebly. 70+ Beautiful Designs (or Customize Your Own) Deciding on a look for your website couldn't be easier. Weebly has dozens of beautiful designs to choose from and add more regularly. Want to bring your own? You can completely customize the template of your site, or build your own with HTML & CSS, right in the Weebly editor. Hosting Included – No Restrictions Weebly provides the hosting so you don’t need to pay for a hosting provider. Weebly doesn’t impose arbitrary bandwidth restrictions, storage caps or limits on the number of pages allowed, either. The Weebly service is fully available online, so there is nothing for you to install or configure. Their hosting infrastructure is backed by an army of servers that provide reliable stability for your websites – all for free! Publish to Your Own Domain If you already own your own domain, you can set it up to work with your Weebly site. You have three options when it comes to choosing an address for your site: 1) You can choose to publish your website to a free sub-domain of Weebly.com (http://Weebly.com), 2) you can purchase a domain directly from Weebly which we instantly set up with your site, or 3) you can configure a domain that you already own to work with your Weebly site (They show you how to do this). |
Let's Get You Set Up |
Themes allow you to create the initial look of your webpage. Themes alter the layout, color, and interactions with the menu. Choosing a theme is not a life long commitment. You are able to change the theme at any time. Themes cannot be changed on a per page basis, but settings can be adjusted for each page to make each one custom if you choose.
When choosing a theme you see its layout as a thumbnail. You can preview what it's going to look like on your page by clicking on the preview button. When you have the theme you like, click choose. |

Under settings and security you can change your sites:
|
|
Click on the pages tab at the top to create and organize pages. Pages can be nested. This means that main title pages can be made to hold secondary pages, links and content.
For example, Photo 1 is the main page and is visible at the top of the homepage. When you hover your mouse over the Photo 1 tab, it creates a drop down menu of nested pages. These nested pages are different units, and assignments students can work on. Pages can be created and hidden until needed. This allows you to create lessons prior to teaching, then allowing access to the page when you are ready to teach the content. You can also password protect pages to areas you want only certain people to have access to. Public access mean anyone can see the content on your pages. |
|
When you are building your page, there are sections where you can drag and drop content tiles that let you design and build your website.
Give your page a title and click done. It will now show up in your page list. You can drag that new page to the location where you need it. When you are ready, click on the build tab at the top. Under the basic section, you can add a title, text, images/gallery/slideshow, maps, contact forms, assignment forms, buttons, and even HTML code. |
